So I’m planning a trip to Daytona for the 24 Hour, which is also my 30th birthday. So I want a convertible for my rental car, because reasons.
Is there any way to reserve a car and actually get what you want? The listings are sorta insane in that they are “VW Beetle Cabrio or similar” with a picture of a Mustang or “Chevy Camaro or similar” with a picture of a Mini Cooper. So help me, if I reserve a Camaro and they try and give me an A3 Cabrio someone will die.
This is only my second time renting a car, so maybe I’m just over reacting, but I’m not going to be amused if I get a Beetle and not a Camaro.

Rent something else. Upgrade when you get there. Flying or driving? Probably more rental options if you fly into Orlando and do the hour-ish drive to Daytona, which is what I’ve done the past couple of years. Then you can enjoy driving the convertible, too!

I rented a convertible Mustang from Avis a few months ago for a weekend in California - I just chose the Convertible/Mustang or similar option and ended up with that. I would’ve been fine with a Camaro but I never even considered a Beetle or Mini showing up instead. I’d be surprised if they pulled that on you.

Second this, you will certainly find what you are looking for that way. Will not necesarily save money but you will definitely get exactly what you want.

2004 MX-5 for $32/day or a 2007 SLK for $56/day.

We were offered a C7 for an extra $30/day last year. Don’t remember what agency, though. We didn’t take the offer, as we basically parked at the hotel and walked everywhere. There are deals to be had, though.

I’m just worried with it being a race weekend all the cool cars are going to get snatched up right away. I was playing around on Enterprise earlier and all their C7s are reserved already.

The A3 cabrio isn’t bad to drive. Basically a convertible GTI with AWD. On a twisty road I think it could actually be more fun than a Mustang V6. I had a friend rent one and I got to drive it. The one we had was awd but I’m sure the fwd one isn’t bad either. GTI is fwd after all.
I would never, ever, ever, ever suggest buying one new because it’s way too expensive for what it is and it isn’t really that quick, but it’s somewhat fun.
